| Manager Comments | In what was the worst month for the local sharemarket since November 2008, the Bennelong Securities Long Short Equity Fund managed to gain 0.25%. The manager said that: ''The fund marked time in January as the effects of the sharp retraction in risk tolerance on some higher beta pairs was offset by our generally defensive positioning across the remainder of the portfolio''.
Looking forward Bennelong believes that while the local reporting season and economic data releases should be positive for our equity market, macroeconomic and policy factors are likely to dominate markets through 2010, leading to further periods of volatility. |
